The USB Lighter Company set to launch the NCT No-Contact Thermometer in North America this Summer
With the advent of COVID-19 and the prevalence of social distancing, The USB Lighter Company is expanding its portfolio into the field of personal safety devices with the NCT, a non-contact infrared forehead and ear thermometer which can take instantaneous spotcheck temperature readings—indicated via simple red, yellow, and green color readouts on a digital LCD display—up to five inches from your forehead with the press of a button. This summer the USB Lighter Company will begin manufacturing and distributing this handheld, FDA-approved non-medical health device at 50% of retail pricing to medical professionals, educators, first responders, airline and essential workers. The NCT, which also has a built-in attachment for contact ear readings, will be made available to the general public as well in single or multi-pack options.

“The point is to get this screening device into the hands of people who need it the most at the lowest possible price,” says Calvin Chan, founder of The USB Lighter Company. “As an entrepreneur I have experienced a loss in business due to the pandemic so I wanted to deliver a product, which is not that easy to find in the North American market, to help our economy get going. I never thought about entering the world of medical screening devices, but my retailers need the NCT to responsibly open up their businesses. For my business to thrive, I need my retailers to survive.”
The USB Lighter Company launched in 2014 with a collection of pocket and candle lighters utilizing ARC technology derived from the tesla coil that are meant to last forever and charge easily through a USB port. Over the past four years Chan’s products have been featured on The View, Good Morning America, and in Oprah magazine and sold over 250,000 units. As a Chinese-American entrepreneur with extensive knowledge of the digital technology landscape, Chan is well-positioned to distribute the NCT—a device which is not only FDA-approved but also meets with the EU’s Conformitè Europëenne regulations— at a broad commercial scale from his manufacturers in mainland China.
“I started the USB Lighter Company to provide an authentic, eco-friendly product that is helping to end our dependence on single-use butane lighters, which are sold in the trillions each year cannot be recycled,” says Chan. “With the NCT I want to offer the highest-quality, lowest-cost screening device to help America get back on its feet. Much like the lighters, responsibility and authenticity are at the core of this product.”
